Throughout cultures and countries, the experience of knowing God has been felt universally as one of infinite and utter LOVE. And people, throughout the ages, have always compared God with love.
- “God is love” (1 John 4:8)
- “where love is, God is” (Leo Tolstoy).
- “only love is Infinite & I am a child of love” (Rumi)
- “To love is to know Me [God], My innermost nature, the truth that I am.” (Bhagavad-Gita 18.55)
Now, I would agree with these people and say that love is definitely by the best way to describe God’s being, because when someone loves they are merciful; they are forgiving; patient; compassionate; kind; etc..; and God is truly the epitome of all these things.
So, when you come to experience God in your own life you will know of no greater love than His. You will also come to realize that the love He has for you is the same love He has for ALL His children. And that love is the silent & universal language that runs through all of the universe.
But, God’s love cannot be fully expressed in words. In fact, there is nothing in this world to even compare with it. It is the most intense sensation you can every experience, the deepest emotion you will ever feel, and a stronger high than any drug can give you. To truly know and understand this love, it must be experienced; and it can only be experienced from within. For being love, God’s temple is the heart of every living soul. And you cannot gain His love through any other way than by bonding your heart to Him.
It is through God’s love that everything in the universe is organized and held together. It is also through His love that we were created and given life. In truth, God did not need to create us; and with all the trouble, problems, and heartache humanity would cause Him it’s not uncommon to wonder why God created us at all. But, the reason for our being is LOVE.
Love by nature wants to share itself. You know from your own experiences that when you are in love, you want to share the joy and happiness you are feeling with someone else. Well, God, so loved “being”, that He wanted to share this experience with you; and that’s what God did when He gave you life.
Now, this love which God shared with us and expressed in the Creation is beyond any physical or earthly love; because it involved creating children that He knew could and would turn away from Him. Knowing that we wouldn’t love Him as we should, or give Him the credit and reverence He deserves, He still allowed us to share in the joys, pleasures, and wonders of this world anyway. And that is what I would call a truly unconditional love!
Therefore, try to let your love always emulate God’s. remind yourself that you are a child of love & always be aware that God’s love is within you and around you to draw upon. Finally, follow the advice of Rumi and always “be foolishly in love. Close your eyes, fall in Love, and stay there.”
God bless you all & remember to always – Heed the Spirit,
Anthony
