Hide & Seek With God

“God is the essence of Life itself! And since you have life, you are connected to God at all times. Therefore, you can come to know Him personally by looking within!” – Anthony Profeta

St. Anthony of Padua, a 12th/13th Century Catholic Priest and Franciscan Friar, who is also revered by other cultures and religions, once said that:

The life of the body is the soul, and the life of the soul is God.

And so, if God had not placed His Divine Spark within us, we would not be able to exist.

Therefore, we should know that even in our loneliest times, God is very near to us. He dwells in the hearts, of all people, at all times. He is not hiding from us. Instead, we Hide Seek w Godhave separated ourselves from Him; and if we desire to know Him, we must seek to reunite ourselves with Him. Now when we go looking for Him, we must only turn within ourselves and search for Him there.

Any feeling of separation is of our own making. It comes to us because we have sought our own way and followed our own desires; rather than obeying the law and will of our Father. The prophet Isaiah tried to explain this to us when he said:

Your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you” (59:2).

If we meditate upon this verse we see, that Isaiah is saying, it is the things we do that separate us from God & “hides His face” from us. It is not God who does the hiding; nor is it God who separates Himself.

So, don’t be shocked if right now you don’t see God in your life. Think about for how long you’ve been following the selfish desires of your own heart; rather than being obedient to His will. Therefore, how could any of us expect to see God when all this time we’ve had our backs and not our faces to Him? We need to turn ourselves around, keep our eyes facing His Light, and if we sincerely desire a relationship with God and go looking for Him in the right place, then we will surely find Him.

We should all be aware that God is continually calling us to Him; and He wants a relationship with us no matter how far we have strayed. However, we’re so busy and distracted by life that our ears have not heard His call. Our spiritual awakening will begin the moment we make a free-will choice to align our will again with God’s. Only when we can honestly and meaningfully say, “Not my will; but Thy will be done”, will we let God know that we are really ready to take the walk with Him.

We must also slow down, remove ourselves from the hectic pace of life, and seek out silence every once and a while, if we truly wish to hear God. For, God can only be heard in that still, small voice within us. The scriptures advise us to: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). It is only by “being still”, quieting the mind, and drowning out the noises of the world that we will discover our spiritual senses (inner ear and inner eye) with which we can perceive God. When accomplished we shall be living a brand new life; fully alive and fully awake.

God bless you on your journey & may you always – Heed the Spirit,

Anthony
